Normalizing size diversity in our workplaces, families, and communities is anti-oppressive work. Every January, “new year-new you” messaging perpetuates the idea that larger bodies need fixing to fit societal standards. The truth is that weight bias is a form of oppression. During this webinar, we will learn how: Weight stigma contributes to negative mental & physical health outcomes in adults and youth Our society is rooted in fatphobia and normalizes abusive & shame-based practices that harm To challenge harmful stereotypes and normalize size diversity Ophelia’s Place has served Oregon communities for nearly 20 years through our work with youth, families, educators, and youth-serving providers. We train the next generation of service providers through our direct-service internship program.
